Aimless
I killed a dragonfly just to see if I could
Never thought that I would, no thought if I should
As it stood a good 5 or 6 metres away
At the brightest moment of the hottest day
Didn’t hesitate
No moment to wait
I picked up a pebble and launched it that way
And still to this day I can see it break
A chord is torn in my heart and it aches
I’ll admit I was impressed
A challenge was set
But the prize pales less when swapped for regret
A beautiful dragonfly
Still unsure know why
My first instinct try to make it die
What could I have gained?
A creature in pain
A target for a shot with terrible aim
