Enough about me, let’s talk about you
Only one able to fill my shoes
As the subject or object or way to reflect
Or deflect to prove I’m not too self centred
If I am old age then you are my dentures
Speak of you proof I’m not that pretentious
This one’s for you and by you I mean me
A master of metaphor, you are my tree
You are my shade and shelter from rain
You are my power, my pleasure, my pain
I nicked that from Seal, a kiss from a rose
But he sang about you too as it goes
Everyone has, for now and forever
Compared you to rocks, to space, to weather
You are the enemy, you are the hero
Respect, regret, high ground and ground zero
You are no one and everyone else
A simple distraction, diversion from self
I’m sick of you, you and your obvious simile
Enough about you, let’s talk about me
